Welcome to the new “Favorite Moments” Section! I will gather my best travel experiences in there and start with Iceland, a truly an amazing place I have visited in March 2013. It actually blew my mind twice in one trip and I will start off with the magnificent ice caves…

Exploring Ice Caves in Iceland

Iceland has many ice caves that just wait to be explored. Make sure you go with a guide though as most of them can be very unstable and dangerous if you go on your own! The small size of the country should allow everyone to go, just make sure you visit at the right time of the year.

I came to Iceland in March 2013 and was still able to explore one of them before the spring sun would slowly melt the ice away. Vatnajökull National Park in South Iceland offers the best caves usually and I spent about 3 hours exploring one of them. Note that those caves constantly change their layout, making each experience very unique!

My highlight was a huge hole going up all the way to the surface, created by flowing water. Falling through it was fresh snow, creating a very peaceful atmosphere. It was such a great moment and sadly really hard to capture! Take a look for yourself:
